Exhaled Breath Analysis: Non-Invasive Markers of Oxidant Tissue Injury and Repair

Principal Investigator: Heather Zwickey, PhD

Reactive oxygen species have been proposed to be involved in the etiology of many diseases. Pulse Health LLC, a Portland, Oregon medical device developer, is evaluating a new instrument to detect biomarkers of oxidative stress in exhaled breath. This study will investigate if the presence of reactive oxygen species can be detected non-invasively by the analysis of breath.

The research study population will be a maximum of 150 adult human volunteers ages 18 to 65. Study participants will attend one visit where their breath will be analyzed for the biomarker of oxidative stress using the device under investigation.
