Katie Pickworth, ND

Medical Resident

Dr. Katie Pickworth is a licensed naturopathic physician completing her first year of residency at NUNM. She received a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Master of Science in Integrative Medicine Research in 2019. Prior to her studies at NUNM, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychological Science and Biology with highest honors from Albion College.

Dr. Pickworth’s clinical education focused on mental health and primary care. She also completed specialized rotations in women’s health, IV medicine, physical medicine, and homeopathy; in addition to extensive internal and external rotations and training in mental health. Dr. Pickworth is passionate about providing evidence-based care that treats the whole person, and gives the patient equal opportunity to take part in their health care. She practices with a Health at Every Size (HAES) and trauma-informed approach, believing that every person has a right to superb care.

Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Pickworth was a post-baccalaureate research fellow at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. During her time there, she studied the relationship between depression symptoms and diabetes risk in teenage girls. She continues to conduct research at NUNM by heading up the International Cohort on Lifestyle Determinants of Health (INCLD Health) study, which will characterize NUNM students’ lifestyle behaviors and health over the course of their time as a student.

In her continued efforts to figure out work-life balance, Dr. Pickworth enjoys spending time with her partner and pets, enriching her life with pop culture content, and making elaborate spreadsheets of her OrangeTheory workout stats.
